Barefoot in the wilderness
in search of understanding

34

This weekend, I turned 34. Lucky me :-) Adam gave me a strawberry-flavoured chocolate pig, which he had bought with his own money. My parents got me some stuff from Amazon, including the excellent CD e.p.onymous by Bellowhead. It’s English folk music – but played by a 10-piece group on instruments ranging from fiddle and squeezebox to cello, mandolin and full brass section! Foot-stomping music played with soul.

Anne managed to pull off a coup, though. Normally terrible at keeping secrets (well, she is!), Anne managed not to tell me for 6 months what she had planned for my present. Those who’ve been around here for a while might remember my waxing lyrical about a tea shop in Harrogate that I visited on holiday earlier this year. Well, it turns out that Betty’s do a mail-order service, and Anne got me four of the mammoth Fat Rascals, which were just as excellent as I remembered! I had the last one today :-(

So, when does middle age start, exactly?
